I recently had a conversation with a client who had been struggling with alcoholic behavior for some time.

She’s been through some recent traumas and has been using alcohol as a coping mechanism to process how much she cares about the situation.

Beyond Sober | There Is A Way

Our conversation was about an hour long and there were some amazing epiphanies and revelations that helped her see herself and her circumstances in a whole new light.

I feel that sharing these takeaways with you could help you dramatically shift your perspectives and the way you feel about what’s happening within and around you.

The specific points are common themes with a majority of my personal clients, and if you can embrace these very powerful yet simplistic concepts, you will develop the core fundamental skills necessary for your mind that will bring more joy and peace to your life, regardless of your circumstances.

The overall theme of these key points is self-improvement and personal growth.

Whether it’s allowing yourself to feel and process emotions, embracing difficult experiences, or taking care of yourself through self-care and self-love, these concepts can help you become the person you want to be and find happiness and peace within yourself.

So, if you’re ready to take control of your mental health and improve your quality of life, then give these powerful realizations a try:

  1. It is important to allow yourself to feel and process emotions, rather than trying to numb or disassociate from them.
  2. The intensity of difficult experiences can be a sign of caring deeply, rather than a sign of weakness.
  3. Embracing and learning from difficult experiences will help you grow and become stronger.
  4. It is not about changing or fixing the past, but about rewiring how you think about and respond to it.
  5. It is okay to have shared experiences and to learn from one another, rather than operating in a hierarchy.
  6. It is okay to allow yourself moments of peace and to recognize the strength and effort you have put in to reach that point.
  7. Finding peace and happiness does not depend on external circumstances, but rather on being present and recognizing that it has always been within you.
  8. Take care of yourself and prioritize self-care, including participating in activities that bring you joy and peace.
  9. Do what you can to recognize and challenge self-imposed standards and expectations that may be unrealistic or self-defeating.
  10. Focus on becoming the person you want to be, rather than simply avoiding becoming someone you don’t want to be.
  11. Paying attention to what you don’t want to do or be can actually lead to doing or becoming that thing.
  12. Recognize and challenge negative self-perception and self-judgment.
  13. Focus on self-improvement and personal growth, rather than simply avoiding negative behaviors or outcomes.
  14. Focus on small moments and being present and aware in order to manage emotions and thoughts.
  15. You have permission to be yourself and do not need to ask for permission or overcomplicate things.
  16. Your anxiety and negative emotions come from overcomplicating everyday situations and that everything is just a “spill” that needs to be cleaned up.
  17. Practicing positive affirmations and triggering subconscious beliefs will lead to a shift in your mindset and perception of yourself and the world around you.
  18. Focus on and nourishing the things that feed our soul and bring you joy.
  19. Be present and aware in each moment. This can bring freedom in simplicity.
  20. You have the power to allow yourself to be yourself and do what brings you joy.
  21. Complicating things and trying to control everything leads to negative emotions. Accepting yourself and your surroundings brings peace.
  22. Your thoughts and actions shape your reality. Positive affirmations and repetition will help you create a better reality.
  23. Your true self is infinite, happy, and at peace. Practicing self-love and mindfulness allows you to tap into this inherent goodness and find joy in even small moments.
