Sobriety doesn’t guarantee anything.

It doesn’t even guarantee happiness.

But when you decide on your sobriety and you actively use your sobriety to improve your quality of life, you’re going to lose friends.

You are going to outgrow people.

The person that I was engaged to…I outgrew.

Or maybe she outgrew me?

My sobriety gave me permission to outgrow everybody.

Not a single person in my life was there when I was drinking.

I am beyond sober.

I don’t identify as “sober”.

I’m not an alcoholic as I no longer have a problem with alcohol.

This version of me has never even tasted alcohol.

I’ve pushed so far through my sobriety that sober isn’t an achievement anymore.

The coolest part about personal growth is you attract people at your level.

I’m not an alcoholic, so I don’t attract toxicity.

I don’t have low mental health, so I don’t let people walk all over me.

You attract what you are.

My growth journey over the past five years has allowed me with the most beautiful person in my entire life.

It’s not about getting sober…

…It’s about becoming someone that would never consider a poison to fuel their happiness.
