In today’s society, there is a common misconception that sobriety equates to optimal health. However, having witnessed numerous cases where individuals achieved sobriety but failed to attain true well-being, I am compelled to challenge this notion.

Alcohol can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle if consumed responsibly. It is not a matter of whether one drinks but rather how they approach drinking. If excessive alcohol consumption, such as downing 10 to 20 shots daily or encountering recurrent issues due to alcohol, becomes habitual, both mental and physical health are at stake. Addressing these unhealthy patterns is the core focus of Sober Not Sober.

Rather than solely focusing on ceasing alcohol consumption, my belief lies in cultivating overall wellness and allowing reduced alcohol intake to naturally follow suit. This two-way process ensures that your mental and physical well-being takes precedence over reliance on alcohol. By emphasizing personal health improvement, you will organically transition towards lower dependence on alcoholic beverages.

Contrary to popular belief, sobriety does not guarantee happiness.

However, actively working towards attaining greater contentment and leading a healthier life can ultimately lead one towards sobriety. When individuals experience positive momentum in their lives — making progress towards their dreams while finding genuine satisfaction — it becomes highly unlikely for them to jeopardize this progress through excessive drinking.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the path towards balance — whether it involves achieving sobriety or adopting a more harmonious lifestyle — is deeply personal and unique for each individual. Comparisons between journeys should be avoided as what works for one person may not work for another. Recognize that you hold the power to determine what best suits your mental and physical health. Take control, prioritize self-care, and remember that true sobriety stems from happiness.

By reevaluating our approach to alcohol consumption and shifting our focus towards overall well-being, we can go beyond sobriety and embark on a journey towards a balanced lifestyle. Happiness is the key element in this transformation, leading us to genuine sobriety. Remember, your path is unique — embrace it, prioritize your mental and physical health, and unlock the door to lasting happiness.
